Nestled amid acres of private
woodland and glorious gardens, this magnificent Grade II listed castle
is situated on the northern edge of the Lake District, surrounded by a
golf club.
Dalston Hall provides the finest luxury coupled with
discreet, yet friendly service. An ideal place to stay with
individually designed and lavishly furnished rooms, each providing
contemporary facilities.
Dalston Hall is an excellent choice for
weddings and celebrations on a grand scale, or rather more intimate
gatherings, business meetings and conferences with full facilities
available.
Full of character in its appearance,
Dalston Hall hides a fascinating history. The surrounding area was once
occupied by the Romans and then the Danes. Later the warrior Scots
frequently invaded the area, leading to the construction of fortified
structures known as Pele Towers.
Built around 1500, Dalston
Hall’s Pele Tower initially stood alone. Various additions and
extensions and were made in subsequent years. In 1897, extensive
refurbishment of the interior took place, together with the
construction of the entrance side of the building. This created “a
magnificent mansion surpassing perhaps even its ancient glories”, to
quote a leading antiquarian of the day.
